Riding Academy

The Ox Ridge Riding Academy is designed to develop new riders and provide them with the foundational skills to become confident horse people. Our four tiers of Riding Academy programming ensure that riders of all levels find the appropriate challenges to develop their skills, from lunge line private lessons, to comprehensive horsemanship classes and the opportunity to practice skills during supervised hacks.

Horsemanship is as important as learning to ride, and our unmounted horsemanship classes help new riders develop the confidence they need when being around horses - topics covered include how to groom and tack your horse, how to care for your horse and tack, when to call the vet, basic markings identification, how to know what your horse is feeling, etc.

We have four tiers of Riding Academy programming:

Beginner Riding School: One private lesson per week for those just starting out. Riders will build solid foundational skills at the walk and trot on the lunge line.

Riding Academy: One group lesson and one unmounted horsemanship class per week.

Advanced Riding Academy: Two group lessons, one supervised hack and one horsemanship class per week.

Riding Lessons: Up to two å la carte lessons per week per family, no horsemanship.  Ideal for those with multiple family members looking to ride.

All Riding Academy members are members of Ox Ridge, and pay initiation, dues and Riding Academy fees.  The Riding Academy membership is a three month membership, renewable up to a year.
