Equestrian Sports at Ox Ridge Riding & Racquet Club
Ox Ridge operates with a full complement of world-class equestrian trainers across all riding disciplines – equitation, hunters, jumpers and dressage. Grooms are charged with daily care for member-owned and club-owned horses. Trainers and grooms are all full-time employees of the club.
Most members own or lease their horse, and typically ride five to six days a week. Many participate in regional horse shows, and some also ride in Wellington and Ocala, Fla. For member riders who do not own or lease their horse, the club’s complement of “school horses” are available for riding, training lessons and showing.
New Riding Facilities A new state-of-the-art indoor ring (130’ x 250’) for riding in winter months and inclement weather is planned complete with kickboards and a viewing area to accommodate 30 people, as well as an attached storage area for gear. A covered connection provides easy, efficient and protected access to fully renovated stables that provide housing for up to 60 horses. The stable features integrated wash stalls and a treadmill for exercising horses.
The two new outdoor riding rings, both feature high performance footings. Twelve paddocks are available for horse turnout, grazing and relaxing.
The summer riding camp at Ox Ridge Riding & Racquet Club is a fun and educational summer experience. Each session is a four-day program in riding and horsemanship. The final day of each session will be a show and graduation. The goal is to enrich each participant’s riding ability, knowledge and understanding of horse care and showmanship. Each day provides a balance between riding, stable management, showmanship and fun horse-related activities. The camp only accepts a limited number of children each week so that the program is personalized and the riding lessons within camp will be in groups of two or three at a time, depending on the rider’s skill level.
